"You've got to be careful with the GEIGERRIG RIg 1600 Hydration Pack.  It's so manly, that if you were to turn your back on it, it could well steal your wife, pee on your dog's bed, and fertilize your morning eggs.  It's the Chuck Norris of the Hydration Pack world." -  Gear We Are.com, (Click Here to read the entire hydration pack review.)

"Say 'Sayonara' to the Suck" - Hydration Packs - backpacks with a built-in water bladder and a hose running to your mouth - are a huge convenience for those of us who like to spend all day on the trail.  But they have a rather annoying design flaw.....

THE GEIGERRIG -   This is huge win for me, personally, I've been out of water and dehydrated on long runs, crossing streams without daring to drink the water I was wading through.  There could be a dead cow a hundred yards upstream, and taking even a small sip just isn't worth it.....

WIRED  Best way to drink on the rung (or bike).  Share water without sharing saliva.  In-line antimicrobial filter cleans water on the go and is good for 50 gallons.  Good price point..." -   Wired.com, (Click Here to read the entire hydration pack review at www.wired.com.)

"Compared to the other hydration packs on the market, in my opinion the GEIGERRIG hydration pack stands in a class of its own.  ...First of all, you can practically run this hydration bladder over with a truck...  With the in-line water filter, you no longer have to pull your pump out of your pack and spend 30 minutes filling up your water bottle...  Just grab the bladder, dip it in the river, and BAM!  When you get home from your hike/ride, just turn it inside out and throw it in the dishwasher.   I used to mess with clean and stuffing paper towels down into my hydration bladders, no more of that with GEIGERRIG." - James Garner, Expert Review, OutdoorGearTv  (Click Here For Full Hydration Pack Review and Video)

“Other than ammunition, radios and weapons, water can be the heaviest thing we carry.  And it has so many necessary uses. The Geigerrig hydration system finally makes it easy to access, use and share the water while also getting the hands-free benefit of a hydration pack.  The plug-and-play, on-the-go, in-line filtration unit is on the money.  Greater access to water...  A pressurized spray... All without additional weight or any sacrifice in pack capacity.  It looks like a no brainer.  It was our product of choice as well--for both Outdoor Retailer and the Shot Show.”

Geigerrig_-_Wound.jpg

"GEIGERRIG and First Aid" - Received by e-mail as a "Thank You" from a consumer on Aug, 28, 2011 - "The Geigerrig became a first aid tool to clean out some pretty good wounds."

I purchased the GEIGERRIG 700 and 500 Hydration Systems for mountain biking with my family in the oppressive heat of the Arizona desert.  My primary purpose for purchasing the GEIGERRIG was for the hydration benefits and durability of the system.

Only weeks after purchase both my wife and son crashed hard on two different outings.  The rocks and cactus around here can really tear you up!  In both cases the GEIGERRIG became first, a first aid tool to clean out some pretty good wounds and second, a hydration pack.  My son ended up with 8 stitches in the elbow, and while meeting with the Sports Med Doctor, the doctor said that studies have shown that the BEST thing you can do to discourage infection is properly cleaning out the wound as quickly as possible.  Glad we had those new GEIGERRIG packs with us.

Our son is healing well and ready to get back on the bike!"

"Hero On The Hike" - Received by e-mail as a "Thank You" from a consumer on June 29, 2011 - "I'm not saying that the GEIGERRIG hydration system saved a life yesterday -- but who knows.."

Yesterday afternoon, my dog and I went for a hike here in the Springs.  This hike is considered moderate in rating, and can be a challenge to climb to the Summit, after that it's a nice dissension with such beautiful views of the mountains.  I do love this hike - it's my absolute FAV!  I've done it so many times in the past and continue to hike it.  However, I made a very bad decision yesterday and we hit the trail in the heat of the day.  But, I had my Geigerrig hydration pack so I was good, and I continually doused my dog's body in water and giving her water the entire time.  But I'm telling you, yesterday's heat just would not let up, and the higher in elevation we climbed, it just kept getting so much harder due to the extreme heat.  And even the so-called shaded woodsy area, was not so shaded from the relentless beating of the sun, it seemed to find us, there was no escape yesterday at that hour. (Colorado is currently on a "burn band", and the fire danger level is on "high.")

I started to get pretty fatigued, and began to spray myself all over with my hydration pack.  Now, usually I would not have done that, because I can be a girly-girl and there is no excuse to mess up the hair and make-up but the heat was unbearable.  I finally had to make the decision to head back down and back to the Jeep after about an hour or so.  I've NEVER had to do this, and I absolutely hated to do it, I mean we were not done with our Hike! I'm telling you if it wasn't for my dog, I might not have made the hard decision to turn back.  Thank goodness that I worry so much more about her.   Again, I was so thankful that I was able to keep my dog's body and fur wet--thanks to my GEIGERRIG, and of course I was able to give her as much water as she needed as well.  Although, this is my favorite hike there is not a lot of water for dogs on the trail.  There is virtually no water until the end of the hike.  As stubborn, competitive, relentless and persistent as I am--even I had to admit, it was better to be safe than sorry and to head back out.  We even saw another group who was turning around, I guess they'd misjudged it as well?  Or maybe just tourists?  I didn't have the excuse, I knew the trail very well, and was being careless to some extent.  But upon our decent we came across these two older women who were also descending.  The younger one looked to be in her 60's, and she shared that they had actually started their hike at the complete opposite end of the loop at 9 a.m.--and it was now 3 pm!  Which means that they had done the entire 6 miles--almost.  I was thinking to myself, "Wow, that's a long time--it only takes me 3 hours to do this entire hike.."  But, as I looked down at the other woman who was sitting on a rock taking a break, she was quiet, and didn't say too much, and she looked to be in her 70's!  She looked so very tired.  I couldn't believe this--but it started to make sense as to how long they were out there.  As the younger friend was talking to me, I interrupted and asked the older woman if she'd like for me to spray some water from my my hydration bladder--she didn't look so good, and she shared that she didn't feel so good either--she looked at me sort of puzzled, almost wondering how I could make the spraying of the water happen.  But she agreed and said, "Yes.  Please."  So, I began to gently spray water all over her legs, and I then sprayed her arms, and she seemed to really appreciate this, as she looked up and smiled and lifted up her hands for more as she smoothed the water over her legs.  I then quickly asked if I could spray the very top of her head with water, and she allowed me to.  I soaked her entire head with the water from my hydration pack.  And do you know, it's as if she came to life!  Her friend interrupted and said, "Well, she's been drinking her water?"  "Yeah", I said, "but sometimes it's so good to just spray the water on you-it helps to cool you down faster".  The older woman thanked me and finally began talking, and said, "You know before you came up to us, I was feeling really dizzy, and so weak and even lightheaded."   I explained all about my pack and how my mouth never needs to touch the valve so the water was clean--but I don't really think she cared too much about any of that.  I'm pretty sure she just wanted to be done!  I asked if she was feeling good enough to get up and finish the last 20 minutes back to her car--and she hesitated, but I was pushing her to move on--and she obliged. I wanted to get her to her car and quick, in case anything happened due to the heat and her age.  I don't mind admitting I was a little concerned for her, but I didn't let on.  I did the best I could to keep talking and hiking and motivating them to move ahead to get her to her car where they said a friend was waiting.  Finally, we made it and the older lady spoke no more and quickly seated herself in the passenger side of the Honda Pathfinder, with AC blasting--she was beat, but she was safe for now!   Her friend stood around afterwards talking to me, and as we said our goodbyes our eyes locked, and her eyes began to get a little misty, and she grabbed my hand and gave me this firm gripped hand-shake and said in a quivering voice, "I want to thank you so much for what you did, thank God you came along when you did."  I said, "Aw, well - you were almost there."

I'm not saying that my GEIGERRIG hydraiton system saved a life yesterday--but who knows. All I know is that I sure do like the flexibility of my pack and what it's capable of--no other pack can do that!  Thank you, I liked being looked at as a little bit of a "Hero on the Hike", so to speak--thanks to GEIGERRIG! :)
